It would be very useful to have an up to date Thunderbird package for EL6/CentOS6. Are there any plans to update your package from 17.0.8?
EL-6 have 17.0.9 in officiel repo, so there is no security risk.
TH 24.0 doesn't build in EL-6. I will try again with 24.0.1.

The issue I have with the official 17.0.9 package is that if I click on a link in a message it doesn't open it in Firefox - I am using your Firefox 24 package. Nothing I have been able to find in the settings makes it work. There's no such problem with your 17.0.8 package.
I finally found a nice solution to build new Thunderbird version.
I use python 2.7 from Red Hat Software Collections 1.0 and gcc 4.8 from Red Hat Developer Toolset 2.0 (used at build time only, not at run time)
Build of Thunderbird 24.1 are running, and should be available soon in the repository (after some testing)
